IONS is a five-member band based in Prague, which was created as a natural continuation of the collaboration between guitarist Jakub Tirč and singer Shorty Lag. IONS' signature sound is characterized by a combination of atmospheric keyboards, orchestral elements and complex beats. Their penchant for synthesizers, low-tuned guitars, post-rock and progressive-metal influences dominate their latest album “Counterintuitive”. In their lyrics, the group explores the topics of morality, inequality in society, animal rights, domestic violence and more. In 2024, "Counterintuitive" won the award as the best Hard & Heavy album of 2023 at the Slovak Radio_Head Awards. Today, the band consists of Shorty Lago, Jakub Tirčo, Milan Zolota, Martin Pisko and Jiří Horák.
